Football Songs

When talking about football songs, do we mean soccer songs or American football songs? If you are not from the United States, football is played with

your feet and two nets, but if you are from America, that sport is called “soccer”.  A site dedicated to football songs then needs to include both sports.  I imagine songs that are meant to pump up soccer players and fans could also pump up American football players and fans. Sports songs are universal in that they inspire all participants to cheer or play harder.  Any song that causes spontaneous clapping, stomping, and/or yelling counts as an adequate football song.

While some football songs like “We Will Rock You” are universal and iconic, some sports fans have different tastes. For instance some might prefer metal or hard rock to get them pumped up for a game, while others would prefer hip-hop or rap like Emimen’s “Lose Yourself”.  Country music is also popular in certain parts of the country.  Regardless of your music tastes, all the song needs to do is get you fired up and ready to cheer loud for your favorite team.

In soccer, each team or country has traditional football songs and chants that they break out when rooting on their favorite soccer team.  Songs that are used in soccer games and parties are songs that tend to popular all over the world because soccer is played all over the world.  Worldwide popular artists such as Shakira and Enrique Iglesias tend to be the most popular sports songwriters for soccer watchers. One of the more popular cheers is usually done by the commentator after a goal when he/she yells “Goooaaaallll!”.

In American football, fans tend to favor more popular and less traditional sorts of songs to get pumped up for the big game.  Country music songs like Hank Williams Jr.’s “Are You Ready For Some Football?” are also more popular with American football than soccer.  Also, unlike soccer, teams usually do not have their own songs or chants; rather, there are chants that are used by the fans of all teams.  Some of these chants include chants of “Defense” and “Overrated”. American football has not been around nearly as long as soccer has, so they are in the process of developing traditional songs.

Whether it’s American football or soccer that you prefer to watch (or maybe both?), make sure to have a good playlist of pump-up type football songs ready for tailgate or viewing party.  There are definitely some classics like Queen’s “We Will Rock You” or “Eye of The Tiger”, but there are constantly good songs coming out that fit the bill as a good football song.  More and more football songs are coming from the hip-hop and rap genre.  There is new “pump-up” type music coming out everyday by Eminem, Lil’ Wayne, and other rappers.  We hope to cover and review the newest football songs that come out and let readers decide if the songs fits the bill as an adequate football song.

Football Songs That Will Pump You Up

How important is a song when you talk about the gridiron? You might not realize it, but it’s a lot. The right song will eventually pump any football

player up. And eventually, this will affect his performance.

Everybody knows that football is all about the grit. No doubt, this is not a sport for the weak at heart. And this is the reason why the songs that any football player has to be listening to before any game have to be at the most, scalier with regards to the lyrics and the musical score. Needless to say, love songs will not do the sport any justice.

So for those who might be wondering, here are a few pump up football songs that might just be what ‘looking for.

Airplanes B. O. B. feat. Hayley Williams

It’s almost a stereotype that people would label pump up football songs as craggy and tough, when in reality, a song that just produces too much noise rather than meaning will only further cause confusion before games. Enter Airplanes by B. O. B. It’s all about the struggle to the top when it comes to being a football player. Not everyone instantly gets all the skills without ever working for them. This song is a perfect theme for the hardships that any athlete goes through.

Bleed It Out Linkin Park

This one’s a bit different from other songs in terms of genre. Some people tend to think that pump up football songs are more inclined to hip-hop. Linkin Park‘s Bleed It Out is a testament that counters the stereotype. The song speaks for itself when talking about football. Don’t expect anything easy when you’re on field. You will have to bleed it out as some point.

Remember the Name Fort Minor

Never will any of the other pump up football songs have this kind of effect on anybody once they start listening to Fort Minor’s Remember the name. For any tough guy training in any sport was made to listen to this song and not the other way around. The lyrics speak for itself: “this is ten percent luck, twenty percent skill, fifteen percent concentrated power of will, five percent pleasure, fifteen percent pain and a hundred percent reason to remember the name!” If that does not pump you up in any way, then nothing probably will. It’s all about the clash and the grit that an individual goes through when they pit against each other on the field. And this song perfectly describes it all.
